About the Project

MEND capital works and restoration

We are delighted to share that our exciting MEND capital works and restoration programme in our East Wing are underway

Contractors Clive Graham Associates started work on site on 20 May. With colleagues in Haringey Council we have worked closely with heritage architects Rodney Melville + Partners planning the works for our wonderful Grade 1 listed building.

The works will see us addressing and stabilising structural issues, making fire protection upgrades, repairing historic fabric, and improving accessibility, as well as transforming an 18th century room into a new public space for exhibitions and community use, enhancing public access to the museum’s unique and fascinating collection.

This project has been boosted with extra funding, thanks to £588,000 secured from the Museum Estate and Development (MEND) fund, provided by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sports and delivered by Arts Council England.
