A Resident’s Perspective by Ruth Crowley.
Free, booking required.
Outside of Tottenham, the Article 4 Conservation Area of Tower Gardens is little known. Built between 1904 and 1928 in the beautiful Arts and Crafts style, the Tower Gardens estate is one of the world’s first cottage garden suburbs, noted for its radical social housing design.
Resident local historian Ruth Crowley has lived in Tower Gardens since the year 2000. In her talk, she takes us on a journey through the estate’s history -from its inception as housing for the working classes to its current involvement in community activities such as the National Garden Scheme and London’s Open House Festival.
Ruth is an occupational therapist with an interest in travel, arts and culture. She is passionate about sharing the history of her much-loved Garden Suburb to make its importance more widely known and ensure its long-term preservation.
Please book your free ticket for this in-person talk via Ticket Tailor.
