Tottenham Heritage Walks with Bruce Castle Museum and Archive bring you a free and fascinating Jewish History Walking tour around Tottenham. Free tickets must be booked via Ticket Tailor.

Starting at the Holocaust Memorial Garden of Remembrance near the Museum in Bruce Castle Park, your guide Carol Hebbs (Tottenham Heritage Walks) will reflect on some of the testimonies remembered here of Holocaust survivors who settled in Haringey. The tour will go on to share stories and community histories about Jewish-owned shops and businesses once found on Tottenham High Road; and the former large factories at Tottenham Hale -the world class names Lebus and Gestetner employed thousands, many from working class Jewish families who settled in the streets between The Hale and Lansdowne Road. It highlights important places for the community: the former High Cross synagogue of the Tottenham Hebrew Congregation, and the previous Jewish Home and Hospital on the High Road. And also look at the hostility experienced in the area after the Aliens Act of 1905 and the ‘Tottenham Outrage’ incident in 1909.

Meet at 10.15am for 10.30am start by the main entrance (under the clocktower) of Bruce Castle Museum, Lordship Lane, N17 8NU.

The tour lasts approximately 2 hours, and ends near Seven Sisters, convenient for bus and tube travel.

Please wear sensible footwear for walking and dress appropriately for the weather.
