Free, all welcome. No booking required. Refreshments included.

"Haringey is fortunate to have so much open space, large and small, and we do wonder how these oases of green survived the massive urbanisation of the 19th and 20th centuries. Sometimes the large gardens of former grand houses were saved by local councils, and our own Bruce Castle park is such an example. Occasionally common land was preserved, such as the Downe Field near Tottenham Hale which became Down Lane Park. Interestingly, sometimes land that had been built on returned to open space, with Railway Fields in the west of the borough on a disused railway, or Hartington Park near Scotland Green on slum clearance land.

Do you have a favourite piece of local parkland or natural area to tell us about? What memories does it hold for you or why do you find it important? And do you know its history? If not, we have our Val on hand who can probably tell us what we need to know, and maps, old and new, to identify where they are."

Come to the Museum and share your memories over a cup of tea.
